Helicopter spins out of control into palm trees at popular California beach

A helicopter crashed into palm trees near Huntington Beach, California, after spiraling out of control above the beach.

Five people, including two onboard the helicopter, were hospitalized after being rescued from the wreckage, while three pedestrians on the street were also injured.

Videos show the aircraft plunging toward the edge of the beach, wedging between trees and a staircase near the Pacific Coast Highway.

The cause of the crash has not yet been released, The Guardian has reported.

The helicopter was linked to the annual “Cars N Copters” fundraising event scheduled for Sunday.
