Gov. Gavin Newsom signs law banning new Glock sales in California

California will no longer allow the sale of new Glock handguns, after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 1127 into law.

The bill targets Glocks because their design can be easily modified with a 3-D printed “Glock Switch” to fire fully automatic, even though such switches are already illegal.

The law does not ban possession or the resale of used Glocks, but seeks to push the manufacturer to redesign the gun so it can’t be converted.

The legislation gained support after several shootings, including the 2022 killing of Greg “Najee” Grimes, who was shot multiple times with a modified Glock, CBS News has reported.

Republicans opposed the bill, arguing it disproportionately restricts access to one of California’s most popular handguns.
