President Donald Trump posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a White House ceremony on Tuesday.
Kirk, killed in a September shooting at Utah Valley University, was a major figure in right-wing politics and founder of Turning Point USA, known for mobilizing young conservatives and his close alliance with Trump.
The award, presented on what would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday, was accepted by his widow, Erika Kirk, who praised his faith and dedication while reflecting on his legacy.
Trump lauded Kirk as “unstoppable” and used the occasion to criticize left-wing violence and defend recent National Guard deployments to Democratic-run cities, Fox News has reported.
The ceremony drew prominent Trump allies and officials, underscoring Kirk’s deep influence within Trump’s political movement.
