Violent clashes between Hamas and rival groups in Gaza have intensified, including a disturbing incident reportedly involving the public execution of eight blindfolded men in Gaza City’s al Sabra neighborhood.
Videos shared on social media, some from Hamas-affiliated channels, show masked fighters, some wearing Hamas headbands, dragging, assaulting, and ultimately shooting the detainees while large crowds watch.
While the timing of the execution cannot be independently confirmed, war-time damage in the footage suggests it occurred after the recent Israel-Hamas ceasefire, CNN has reported.
Palestinian authorities and human rights groups condemned the killings as “heinous crimes” and violations of human rights, while Hamas-aligned factions defended the action as part of a “security campaign” against collaborators and criminals.
The incident underscores the growing lawlessness and brutality in Gaza following Israel’s partial withdrawal from the territory.
