Katie Porter says she regrets viral outbursts at reporter, staffer

California gubernatorial candidate Katie Porter acknowledged she “could have handled things better” after viral videos showed her losing her temper with a reporter and a staffer.

In one clip, Porter nearly ended an interview with CBS correspondent Julie Watts, calling her questions “argumentative” and expressing frustration on camera.

In an older 2021 video, Porter yelled at a staffer who walked into her shot during a virtual meeting with Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, later apologizing for her outburst.

Porter emphasized that she values her staff’s work and wants voters to see her as a strong, tough leader who can confront challenges like economic and societal issues under Donald Trump, Fox News has reported.

She said the incidents do not reflect her usual conduct and reiterated her commitment to handling questions and interactions more respectfully.
