An area near the White House was locked down Tuesday night after a driver crashed into a security gate at 17th and E Street NW.

The driver was immediately arrested by Secret Service officers, and his vehicle was searched and deemed safe.

President Trump was inside the White House during the incident, the Daily Mail has reported.

Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity or motive, and the road will remain closed until the car is towed, though the White House itself is not on lockdown.
