Vance arrives for meeting with Netanyahu in Jerusalem

U.S. Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha arrived in Jerusalem Tuesday for high-level talks aimed at reinforcing the Gaza cease-fire.

They were greeted at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office by Netanyahu and his wife Sara in a small private ceremony.

The first meeting between Vance and Netanyahu will be followed by an expanded session with senior staff.

Vance and Usha landed at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport and met U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee and White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The vice president is expected to remain in the region until Thursday and meet families of hostages whose bodies have not yet been returned.

The talks aim to stabilize the first phase of the cease-fire and encourage both Israel and Hamas to make further concessions.

Both sides have accused each other of violating the cease-fire since it began on October 10, but insist they remain committed.

President Trump has emphasized that the 20-point plan he brokered must succeed, the New York Post has reported.

A senior Israeli official said Vance’s trip is intended to advance negotiations to the second phase of the cease-fire.

Under the agreement, Israel awaits Hamas’s return of 15 hostages’ remains, while Israel returned 15 Palestinian bodies on Tuesday.
