Britain pushes allies to boost Ukraine support as Zelenskyy lands in London

Britain urged allies to use frozen Russian assets to strengthen Ukraine’s position in future peace talks as President Zelenskyy arrived in London for meetings with international partners.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for cutting Russian oil and gas from global markets and providing Kyiv with long-range missiles, while Zelenskyy pressed the EU for similar support after their Brussels meeting.

The EU agreed to help meet Ukraine’s financial needs over the next two years but stopped short of using frozen Russian assets for a major loan, citing Belgian objections.

Moscow warned of a “painful response” if assets are seized, while also dismissing the impact of U.S. sanctions on Russia’s top oil companies, NBC News has reported.

Zelenskyy’s London visit included talks with leaders like NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and meetings with King Charles, who has repeatedly shown support for Ukraine.
