Two arrested over theft of jewels at Louvre museum in Paris

Two men from a Paris suburb have been arrested in connection with the Oct. 19 Louvre jewel heist, in which eight high-value pieces, including crowns and jewelry once owned by Napoleon, were stolen.

One suspect was caught at Charles de Gaulle Airport trying to fly to Algeria, and the other near departure to Mali; both are French nationals with prior burglary records and dual citizenships.

Police linked trace DNA from a helmet at the scene to one of the suspects and placed him under surveillance, while the investigation continues into possible insider involvement, ABC News has reported.

The brazen theft involved thieves using a mobile freight elevator and angle grinders to access the Apollo Gallery, with authorities still searching for the stolen items valued at $102 million.
