Jose Castro-Rivera, a 24-year-old Honduran national, was struck and killed on I-264 in Virginia while fleeing from ICE agents who had stopped his vehicle.

Virginia State Police responded to the crash, finding Rivera pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a pickup truck.

ICE said Rivera resisted detention and ran onto the highway, creating a safety risk, and an officer attempted CPR before he died, CBS News has reported.

The incident is under investigation, occurring amid recent nationwide ICE operations targeting undocumented immigrants.
