New Jersey police Sergeant Kevin Bollaro has been charged with misconduct and record tampering for failing to properly respond to 911 calls reporting gunshots on Aug. 1.
Instead of investigating, Bollaro drove to an ATM and a pizzeria, spending nearly two hours away from the reported crime scene.
The next day, two victims, Lauren Semanchik and Tyler Webb, were found shot to death nearby by a state police officer who later died by suicide, NBC News has reported.
Prosecutors say Bollaro submitted false statements in his report, and he is due in court on Nov. 5, while families criticized his actions as part of broader police failures.
