The Trump administration is reportedly considering replacing up to 12 senior field office leaders at ICE with officials from U.S. Customs and Border Protection to increase deportations.
The move, driven by adviser Corey Lewandowski, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and Commander at Large Greg Bovino, would mark a shift from ICE’s usual in-house promotions.
Bovino has faced criticism from a federal judge over allegedly ignoring a court order but has been praised internally by DHS leadership.
The changes would affect field offices from Los Angeles to Philadelphia, ABC News has reported.
DHS emphasized its focus on enforcing immigration laws, though no personnel changes have been officially announced.
