Japan PM, Trump sign rare earths and missiles deals

President Donald Trump and Japan’s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi celebrated a “new golden age” in U.S.-Japan relations during a Tokyo meeting on Tuesday.

They signed a deal for Japan to purchase tactical missiles for its U.S.-made F-35 jets and a memorandum of understanding for constructing new ships.

The leaders also agreed on a plan to secure critical minerals and rare earth supply chains amid China’s export restrictions.

Takaichi praised Trump’s impact on global peace and said she would nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize, the DW has reported.

Both emphasized strengthened economic and security cooperation between their nations.
