Man charged after stabbing two teenagers with a fork on a flight from Chicago to Germany

A 28-year-old man, Praneeth Kumar Usiripalli, allegedly stabbed two 17-year-old boys with a fork and attempted to assault a flight crew member on a Lufthansa flight from Chicago to Germany, forcing the plane to divert to Boston.

One victim was stabbed in the shoulder and the other in the back of the head, while Usiripalli also made threatening gestures and slapped a female passenger.

Usiripalli, an Indian national previously on a student visa but currently without lawful status in the U.S., is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon on an aircraft, CNN has reported.

The incident occurred amid ongoing aviation delays and staffing issues linked to the government shutdown.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
