Mass killings reported in Sudanese city seized by paramilitary group

Reports indicate mass killings and other atrocities in El Fasher after Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of the city over the weekend.

Video and satellite evidence suggest RSF fighters are carrying out summary executions and door-to-door operations targeting Fur, Zaghawa, and Berti non-Arab communities, with the Joint Forces alleging more than 2,000 civilians killed.

Tens of thousands of civilians remain trapped without aid, with over 26,000 fleeing since Sunday, many heading to Tawila, where hospitals are overwhelmed with casualties.

UN officials and rights groups have warned of ethnically motivated atrocities reminiscent of past RSF massacres in Darfur, The Guardian has reported.

The RSF now controls all five Darfur state capitals, marking a major shift in the war and raising fears of Sudanese territorial fragmentation.
