Russia’s latest drone and missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure caused nationwide power outages Thursday, killing at least three people, including a 7-year-old girl, and injuring 17 others.
President Zelenskyy said over 650 drones and 50 missiles were launched, targeting critical systems that control water, heating, and sewage.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko called the strikes “systematic energy terror” aimed at undermining morale and disrupting war-related activity, urging more air defenses and stronger sanctions on Russia, the AP has reported.
The attacks prompted Polish and NATO aircraft to scramble as a precaution, and several regional airports in Poland were temporarily closed.
