Trump touts progress on multiple fronts with China after meeting Xi

President Donald Trump described his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping as “amazing,” saying the two reached key agreements to ease trade tensions.

China agreed to buy U.S. soybeans, delay new rare earth export restrictions, and curb fentanyl shipments.

In return, Trump said he would lower tariffs on Chinese goods and that both sides were close to finalizing a broader deal, Politico has reported.

The talks, their first since 2019, appear to have pulled the nations back from a potential escalation in their trade dispute.
