2 girls fall from Ferris wheel at Louisiana harvest festival

Two girls under 13 were hospitalized after being thrown from a Ferris wheel at the Harvest Festival on False River in New Roads, Louisiana, on Saturday, authorities said.

Pointe Coupée Parish Sheriff Rene Thibodeaux reported that one girl was airlifted to a medical facility, though their conditions have not been released.

Witnesses described the ride tipping and dumping the girls, with one appearing to hit the ground face-first.

The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal is actively investigating the incident, ABC News has reported.

Attendees expressed shock and concern, with one witness noting how close she had been to riding the Ferris wheel herself.
