Microsoft announced it will ship over 60,000 of Nvidia’s most advanced AI chips, including GB300 Grace Blackwell GPUs, to the United Arab Emirates under U.S. Commerce Department-approved licenses.
The deal, part of Microsoft’s $15.2 billion planned tech investment in the UAE, enables AI data center operations and access to models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and others.
This shipment contrasts with former President Trump’s recent claim that the U.S. would block exports of the most advanced chips abroad.
The UAE’s access is tied to a pledge to invest $1.4 trillion in U.S. energy and AI projects, far exceeding its annual GDP of $540 billion, the AP has reported.
Microsoft had already deployed more than 21,000 Nvidia GPUs in the UAE under previous licenses approved during the Biden administration.
