Seattle-area man arrested in Halloween terrorism plot investigation

A 19-year-old Seattle-area man, Saed Ali Mirreh, was arrested by the FBI in connection with a foiled Michigan terror plot linked to ISIS, marking the eighth arrest in the case.

Mirreh and co-conspirator Tomas-Kaan Jimenez-Guzel, also 19, are charged with conspiracy and attempting to provide material support to a designated terrorist organization, including plans to join ISIS in Turkey.

The plot involved at least seven other alleged ISIS supporters, including individuals in Michigan, New Jersey, the U.K., and Sweden, who were scouting targets such as gay bars and amusement parks.

FBI documents show Mirreh had previously been under investigation in 2023 and maintained online communications with pro-ISIS extremists, sharing photos of allegiance to ISIS, NBC News has reported.

Authorities described the plot as serious and well-coordinated, highlighting how online radicalization had translated into real-world plans to travel overseas and commit violence.
