World leaders slam Trump at COP30 climate summit

Several Latin American leaders criticized President Trump’s stance on climate change at the COP30 UN summit in Belém, Brazil.

Brazilian President Lula da Silva condemned “extremist forces” spreading misinformation and threatening future generations, while Colombian President Gustavo Petro and Chilean President Gabriel Boric directly singled out Trump, highlighting his absence and denying the climate crisis.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron also warned that climate misinformation undermines global consensus and democratic efforts to meet the Paris Agreement.

The White House defended Trump, calling climate initiatives a “Green Energy Scam” and praising his “commonsense energy agenda” as protective of American interests, Axios has reported.

The remarks underscore international frustration with the U.S. approach to climate policy under Trump.
