Putin, Zelenskyy respond to Trump’s peace plan

President Donald Trump is pressuring Ukraine and Russia to accept a 28-point peace plan before Thanksgiving, but both President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Vladimir Putin expressed skepticism about its viability.

The plan requires Ukraine to make major concessions—including cutting its military in half and ceding additional territory—sparking fears in Kyiv that accepting it would amount to capitulation.

Zelenskyy warned Ukrainians that the country faces an agonizing choice between preserving its “dignity” and risking the loss of its key ally, while vowing he would not betray the nation.

Putin said the plan reflects many longstanding Russian demands and could serve as a basis for a final settlement, but claimed Ukraine is refusing to accept it, ABC News has reported.

As heavy battlefield losses and a corruption scandal strain Zelenskyy’s government, he said Ukraine will engage constructively with U.S. officials, while refusing to allow Russia to portray Kyiv as the obstacle to peace.
