Europe agrees to invite Putin back into G8

A new European peace plan offers to bring Vladimir Putin back onto the world stage by readmitting Russia into the G8 in exchange for several concessions.

The proposal, drafted by the UK, Germany, and France, caps Ukraine’s army, calls for early elections, and begins territorial negotiations from the current front line, while dropping earlier demands that Ukraine surrender the Donbas.

The plan contrasts sharply with Donald Trump’s widely criticized 28-point proposal, which many say heavily favored Moscow.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington is adjusting its plan after emergency talks in Geneva as Trump complains of “zero gratitude” from Kyiv, The Telegraph has reported.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high as Ukraine launched a major drone strike on a power station near Moscow, one of its deepest attacks into Russia to date.
