Zelensky’s chief of staff resigns amid corruption probe

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, resigned hours after anti-corruption investigators raided his home, triggering a major political shock during ongoing peace negotiations.

Yermak, long considered the most powerful figure in Ukraine after Zelensky, had been embroiled in a corruption scandal involving alleged embezzlement in the energy sector, though he was not formally accused.

His departure comes just before he was scheduled to meet Trump administration envoys in Miami to advance a new U.S.–Ukraine peace framework.

Zelensky said he will quickly appoint a new chief of staff and emphasized that Ukraine must remain united to avoid giving Russia an advantage, Axios has reported.

While Yermak’s exit creates uncertainty, Ukrainian officials say it will not alter the country’s negotiating position on ending the war.
