Brian Walshe goes on trial in death of wife who disappeared more than 2 years ago

A Massachusetts man, Brian Walshe, goes on trial Monday for the alleged murder of his wife, Ana Walshe, who disappeared on January 1, 2023, and whose body has never been recovered.

Prosecutors say Walshe made online searches related to dismemberment and body disposal immediately after her disappearance and allegedly disposed of items linked to her in trash bags.

Surveillance footage and recovered evidence—including a hatchet, hacksaw, and Ana Walshe’s personal items—tie him to the crime.

Ana had taken out a $2.7 million life insurance policy naming her husband as the sole beneficiary, and the couple’s three children are now in state custody, the AP has reported.

The trial may be influenced by testimony from Massachusetts State Police investigators, including one with a history of alleged bias in prior cases, raising questions about investigative conduct.
