Stabbing on North Carolina commuter train draws Trump’s attention amid immigration crackdown

A stabbing on a Charlotte commuter train has sparked renewed attention from President Trump during his administration’s immigration enforcement push.

Police say 33-year-old Oscar Solarzano, an undocumented immigrant previously deported twice, stabbed another passenger following an argument, leaving the victim in critical condition.

Trump reacted on Truth Social, blaming local Democratic leadership for rising violence, while officials emphasized the incident was not random.

The case follows a separate fatal train stabbing in August that led North Carolina lawmakers to pass “Iryna’s Law,” tightening bail rules and requiring more mental-health evaluations, CBS News has reported.

Despite local opposition and declining crime rates, federal authorities recently targeted Charlotte for arrests, though documents show fewer than one-third of those detained had prior criminal records.
