Israel carried out multiple airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Monday, targeting sites linked to Hezbollah, including a special operations training compound and a rocket-launching site, causing damage to several homes.
No immediate casualties were reported, but the attacks come amid ongoing tensions despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in 2024, which ended over a year of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.
Lebanese officials, including President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, have emphasized negotiations and strengthened monitoring of the ceasefire, while Israel accuses Lebanon of not controlling Hezbollah’s arsenal.
Since the ceasefire, UN reports indicate at least 127 civilians, including children, have been killed in continued Israeli strikes, which UN officials warn may constitute war crimes, Al-Jazeera has reported.
Hezbollah has so far not retaliated, insisting it will maintain its arms as long as Israel continues strikes and occupies parts of southern Lebanon.
