Parent of student charged in shooting that killed teen at Kentucky State University

A parent of a Kentucky State University student, 48-year-old Jacob Lee Bard, has been charged with murder after an on-campus shooting killed one student and critically injured another.

The incident occurred Tuesday at Whitney M. Young Jr. Hall in Frankfort, where Bard fired shots at the students, killing 19-year-old De’Jon Fox and critically wounding a second student.

Bard, from Evansville, Indiana, was arrested immediately by university police and faces murder and first-degree assault charges.

Authorities have reviewed video footage from the scene but have not disclosed a motive or details leading up to the shooting, the AP has reported.

This marks the second campus shooting in four months, prompting the university to assess additional safety measures for its roughly 2,200 students.
