Ukraine says it struck Russian shadow fleet oil tanker in Black Sea

Ukraine struck a Russian “shadow fleet” oil tanker, the Dashan, in the Black Sea using Sea Baby maritime drones in a joint operation by the SBU and navy.

The attack caused critical damage to the vessel, which was traveling with its transponder off toward Russia’s Novorossiysk port, a key oil hub.

This marks the third strike on Russian tankers in two weeks, targeting ships used to secretly export oil in defiance of Western sanctions.

Video shows the drone hitting the tanker, followed by explosions and thick smoke, though it is unclear if there was an oil spill or what cargo was onboard, CNN has reported.

Ukrainian officials said the operation aims to reduce Russian oil revenues, continuing a campaign that previously targeted major Russian export facilities.
