Blaise Metreweli, the first female chief of Britain’s MI6, will deliver her inaugural public speech on Monday, warning that the “front line is everywhere” amid growing threats from Russia and other hostile actors.
She is expected to highlight challenges including technological disruption, information warfare, and terrorism, emphasizing Russia’s hybrid operations against Western allies of Ukraine.
Metreweli will stress the importance of mastering technology alongside traditional spycraft, calling for fluency in programming and human intelligence to tackle modern security threats.
She will also underline the power of human agency, urging a “rediscovery of our shared humanity” in guiding technological capabilities wisely, CNN has reported.
The address follows government actions targeting Russian and Chinese cyber operations and comes shortly after MI6 launched the Silent Courier portal to gather intelligence from anonymous sources worldwide.
