Trump declares ‘Venezuelan regime’ a foreign terrorist organization, orders oil tanker blockade

President Donald Trump ordered a total blockade of oil tankers entering or leaving Venezuela, declaring Nicolás Maduro’s government a foreign terrorist organization.

Trump accused the regime of using oil from what he called stolen U.S. assets to finance terrorism, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.

The U.S. escalated tensions further by seizing an oil tanker, the Skipper, allegedly used to transport sanctioned Venezuelan and Iranian oil through deceptive “ghost ship” practices.

Officials say the seized oil could be worth tens of millions of dollars and is part of a broader effort to enforce sanctions, Fox News has reported.

The blockade and recent U.S. military strikes on suspected drug-trafficking boats are framed by the administration as part of a pressure campaign against Maduro and narcotics smuggling.
