Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan found guilty of felony obstruction

Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan was found guilty of a felony for obstructing federal agents attempting an immigration arrest outside her courtroom, while being acquitted of a related misdemeanor charge.

The jury of 12 deliberated over six hours, delivering a split verdict that her attorney said could form the basis for a motion to overturn the conviction.

The case, the first of its kind against a sitting state judge, has drawn national attention as a flashpoint in the clash between the judiciary and the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies.

Prosecutors emphasized the ruling is about holding Dugan accountable for a single incident in a courthouse, not politics, while the defense highlighted the split verdict and complexities of ICE procedures, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has reported.

No sentencing date has been set, and the case may continue with motions challenging the conviction.
