Trump, top aides asked Netanyahu to change policy in occupied West Bank

President Trump and his advisers urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to change Israel’s approach in the occupied West Bank during a meeting on Monday, marking the first time in Trump’s second term he has pressed the issue.

U.S. officials warned that escalating violence and controversial Israeli policies could undermine the Gaza peace deal and efforts to expand the Abraham Accords.

Trump’s team raised concerns about settler violence, settlement expansion and the financial instability of the Palestinian Authority, asking Netanyahu to take steps to calm tensions.

Netanyahu agreed to move forward with the next phase of the Gaza deal and to resume talks with Syria, while also voicing concerns about Iran and Hezbollah, Axios has reported.

Although Trump acknowledged disagreements over the West Bank, he publicly expressed confidence that Netanyahu would “do the right thing.”
