Authorities find body of 4-year-old Alabama boy missing since New Year’s Eve

The body of 4-year-old Johnathan Everett Boley, who went missing on New Year’s Eve in Jasper, Alabama, was found Friday about two miles from his home, authorities said.

His dog was found alive with him, and his 6-year-old brother had helped identify the last place he was seen.

Johnathan’s father, Jameson Kyle Boley, has been arrested on explosives-related charges and faces two counts of chemical endangerment of a child, though officials said those charges are not directly linked to the boy’s disappearance.

Law enforcement discovered explosive devices on the father’s property during the investigation, requiring special handling before a full search could be conducted, NBC News has reported.

The child’s parents are separated, his mother has traveled from Florida to cooperate with authorities, and the investigation remains ongoing.
