Colombian President Gustavo Petro issued a defiant warning to President Donald Trump, telling him “Come get me,” after Trump hinted at possible military action over alleged drug trafficking.
Petro rejected threats of invasion or assassination, calling instead for dialogue based on intelligence and facts.
His remarks followed a U.S. special forces operation in Venezuela that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and renewed Trump threats toward other Latin American countries, including Colombia.
Trump accused Petro of allowing cocaine production and warned him to “watch” himself, while also suggesting the U.S. could take control of Venezuela’s oil industry during a transition, the Express has reported.
The escalating rhetoric has raised concerns across the region about U.S. military intervention and political pressure tied to drug enforcement and energy interests.
