Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that Cuba could become the Trump administration’s next target, saying the Cuban government is “in a lot of trouble” following the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
Rubio accused Cuba of deeply infiltrating Venezuela’s security apparatus and effectively controlling the country, suggesting Havana should be concerned.
President Trump echoed criticism of Cuba, calling it a “failing nation” while emphasizing his goal of surrounding the U.S. with “good neighbors.”
Cuban officials condemned U.S. actions in Venezuela and vowed resistance, framing them as a regional threat, the Mirror has reported.
The warning came as Maduro and his wife arrived in New York to face narco-terrorism charges, while the U.S. signaled plans to oversee Venezuela’s transition and rebuild its oil industry.
