Israel carried out airstrikes across southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday and early Tuesday, including an unannounced strike that destroyed a three-story commercial building in the coastal city of Sidon.
The building was uninhabited, at least one person was taken to hospital, and there were no confirmed deaths.
Israel said earlier strikes targeted Hezbollah and Hamas infrastructure, following public evacuation warnings, while Lebanon reported minimal casualties in those areas.
The attacks come ahead of Lebanese government discussions on disarming Hezbollah near the Israeli border, a process that follows last year’s Israel-Hezbollah war and a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in November 2024, Politico has reported.
Despite the ceasefire, Israel has continued near-daily strikes, which the U.N. says have killed at least 127 civilians since the war ended.
