Trump says Venezuela to hand over up to 50 million barrels of oil to US

President Donald Trump announced plans for Venezuela to turn over 30–50 million barrels of sanctioned oil, which would be sold in the U.S. with revenues controlled by his administration.

He said the proceeds would be used to benefit both Venezuelans and Americans, though details on timing, legality, and revenue distribution remain unclear.

Analysts note that the volume would have limited impact on global oil markets and question the feasibility of reviving Venezuela’s energy sector without massive long-term investment.

Venezuela’s oil industry has collapsed due to sanctions, mismanagement, and underinvestment, despite holding the world’s largest proven reserves, Al-Jazeera has reported.

Experts remain skeptical that U.S. oil companies will commit significant capital given past asset seizures and ongoing political uncertainty.
