Nick Reiner lawyer sensationally withdraws from case

Nick Reiner, 32, appeared in Los Angeles court for his parents’ murder case as his high-profile defense attorney, Alan Jackson, abruptly withdrew from representing him.

Jackson cited unspecified circumstances beyond his and Reiner’s control, a move that means Reiner will now be represented by a public defender and has fueled speculation that family funding has ended.

Reiner is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the December stabbing deaths of his parents, director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, at their Brentwood home.

The arraignment was postponed to February 23, and Reiner, who has a history of mental health and addiction issues, has been held without bail since his arrest, the Daily Mail has reported.

Prosecutors say they are confident a jury will convict him, while Jackson publicly maintained that Reiner is not guilty under California law.
