FBI shuts down Minnesota’s investigation into fatal ICE shooting

Minnesota officials say the FBI barred state law enforcement from participating in the investigation into the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent, escalating tensions between the state and federal government.

Gov. Tim Walz criticized the FBI’s decision, saying an investigation without state involvement can’t be trusted, while the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension withdrew after losing access to evidence.

Vice President JD Vance defended the ICE agent and blamed Good for her death, remarks that drew sharp condemnation from Democratic leaders who called the killing an abomination and demanded a full investigation, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The shooting has sparked protests, school closures, and heightened security in Minneapolis, with broader debate over federal authority, immigration enforcement, and accountability for federal officers.
