Trump says US will do something on Greenland ‘whether they like it or not’

President Donald Trump on Friday again pushed for U.S. control of Greenland, saying the United States would act “whether they like it or not” to prevent Russia or China from gaining influence there.

He framed the issue as a national security priority, repeating past remarks about acquiring Greenland through purchase or force, despite strong opposition from Greenland, Denmark, and U.S. allies.

Greenlandic and Danish officials reiterated that the territory is not for sale and that its future belongs to the Greenlandic people.

Lawmakers from both parties largely dismissed Trump’s proposal, with congressional leaders rejecting the idea of military action, ABC News has reported.

Still, Vice President JD Vance backed Trump’s stance, citing Greenland’s strategic importance, as Secretary of State Marco Rubio prepares to meet Danish and Greenlandic officials next week.
