A bodyguard for Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Justin Salsburey, and his wife, Ruthann Rankin, were arrested on drug trafficking charges after investigators discovered hundreds of pills containing fentanyl, methamphetamine, and MDMA in parcels mailed between 2024 and 2025.

Law enforcement observed the couple distributing drugs from their porch and seized large quantities of controlled substances during a home search.

Both face federal charges for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as possession with intent to distribute.

Salsburey had passed multiple background checks and drug tests while working for ARK Protection Group, which immediately removed him from Ramaswamy’s security detail following the arrests, Cleveland.com has reported.

Ramaswamy and his family expressed alarm at the news and support for holding the couple accountable if the allegations are proven.
