I-196 reopens after 100-car pileup, multiple injuries reported

A massive pileup involving over 100 vehicles occurred Monday morning on westbound I-196 near Hudsonville, Ottawa County.

The crash, which included multiple cars sliding off the road and several jack-knifed semi-trucks, forced both lanes to close for more than seven hours.

Between 9 and 12 people were injured, but no fatalities were reported, and all victims were transported to area hospitals.

Local authorities, Michigan State Police, and community groups, including Hudsonville High School and Max Transit, assisted stranded drivers and emergency response efforts, Fox 17 Michigan has reported.

The highway has reopened, and the investigation into the cause of the crashes is ongoing.
