General Motors announced it will move production of the Buick Envision’s successor from China to its Kansas City plant for U.S. sales starting in 2028.
The shift reflects GM’s push to expand domestic manufacturing amid tariffs on imported vehicles and pressure from President Trump.
Production for markets outside the U.S. may remain in China.
GM said the move strengthens its U.S. footprint and supports jobs, building on $5.5 billion in recent domestic investments, CBS News has reported.
The company is also expanding production of other models, including the Chevrolet Equinox and Blazer, while Toyota has pledged up to $10 billion in U.S. manufacturing over the next five years.
