Trump rescinds Canada’s invite to join his Board of Peace amid feud with Carney

President Trump rescinded Canada’s invitation to join his newly created “Board of Peace” amid rising tensions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The decision followed Carney’s speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he warned that the U.S.-led global order was fracturing and urged middle powers to unite.

Trump responded by accusing Canada of being ungrateful and overly dependent on the United States, comments Carney firmly rejected.

Carney defended Canada’s sovereignty, including support for Greenland, and said the country thrives because of its own strength, not U.S. patronage, ABC News has reported.

The episode adds to ongoing friction between the two leaders over tariffs and Trump’s repeated suggestions that Canada should become the 51st U.S. state.
