A Bombardier Challenger 600 business jet carrying eight people crashed during takeoff at Bangor International Airport in Maine on Sunday night.
The condition of those on board is not yet known.
The airport was closed, and officials advised the public to avoid the area while first responders assessed the scene.
At the time of the crash, temperatures were around 2°F with a windchill of -13°F and light snow, with northeast winds of about 10 mph, NBC News has reported.
The FAA and NTSB have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
