More than 10,000 flights canceled as bitter cold blankets the U.S.

A massive winter storm is affecting more than 190 million people across 37 U.S. states, from the Rockies to New England, bringing snow, ice, and sleet.

Heavy snow is spreading from New Mexico through the Tennessee Valley into the Midwest and mid-Atlantic.

Dangerous cold grips much of the central and eastern U.S., with wind chills reaching -20 to -30°F and temperatures 10-40 degrees below normal.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve next week, though snow and extreme cold may persist in New England and near the Great Lakes, NBC News has reported.

The storm has caused major travel disruptions, with over 10,000 flights canceled this weekend.
