1 person is arrested after a suspected biolab is found at Las Vegas home

Authorities in Las Vegas are investigating a suspected biolaboratory found in a home on the city’s east side, linked to Jia Bei Zhu, the owner of an unauthorized California biolab arrested in 2023.

SWAT officers served a search warrant on Saturday, taking the property manager into custody while seizing refrigerators containing vials of unknown liquids.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill said there is no threat to the public, and Hazmat teams, along with FBI assistance, were involved in securing the site.

Zhu, who remains in federal custody and is scheduled for trial in April for operating an unpermitted lab in Reedley, California, was not involved in the Las Vegas home, the AP has reported.

Law enforcement took special precautions during the search, including using a robot and collecting air samples.
