Olive Garden cook dies after going ‘head first’ into deep fryer; Cops say suicide

An Olive Garden employee in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, died after suffering severe burn injuries in an incident police have classified as a suicide attempt.

Authorities said the event occurred Friday afternoon at the restaurant where the man worked as a cook, prompting emergency calls reporting a burn victim.

The employee was taken to a hospital but later died from his injuries, while a second worker received minor burns during efforts to intervene.

Police and restaurant management declined to release further details out of respect for the individual and his family, The Smoking Gun has reported.

The restaurant temporarily closed following the incident.
