Mexican authorities have discovered bodies and remains in Sinaloa during the search for 10 workers missing from a Canadian gold and silver mine.
While the exact number of bodies was not disclosed, officials said one matched the characteristics of a missing worker.
Four people believed to be linked to the disappearances were arrested, and authorities dismantled 10 cartel camps in the mountainous Concordia area near the mine.
The region has seen ongoing violence between rival Sinaloa cartel factions, and Vizsla Silver, the mine’s operator, reported the abductions on January 28, the AP has reported.
The federal government has increased troop deployments to assist in the search, amid concerns over cartel targeting of mining operations for extortion or theft.
